After giving me an excessive 3 doses of sedation for a post implant procedure that took me 2 12 hours to fully recover from Dr. West and his staff made an egregious error in immediately sending me home rather than keeping me in their office until I had fully recovered. I almost fell down getting out of the wheelchair and into the car and from the car into our house. This put me at significant risk for serious injury.
MY RESPONSE TO THE RESPONSE OF DR WEST on 7/12,/24:
The Aldrete Score was cited as the basis for releasing a patient, and a score of 9 out of 10 is required for release. On the first item "Unable to ambulate (0 Points)" should have been my score. This would only make my total score 8 at the highest so I should not have been released to go home immediately after the procedure was completed. But Dr. west made no attempt to test my mobility and instead he immediately put me in a wheel chair and had me pushed out to the car. He stated they never waver from this protocol, but they did.
The combination of the three medications administered to me resulted in a longer recovery time than any of my other 6 medical procedures in the past 16 years when I was under sedation. Also, the same charge code D9234 was listed as: 1 Intravenous Moderate Sedation and 2 Intravenous Sedations at a charge of $210.00 each.
Lastly, there was zero information on the instructions given to me in the package to take home that warned about being cautious to avoid falls and accidents. The instructions were strictly about pain management. - Robert Derheim Dr. Jason West and his staff are wonderful. The staff is excellent, they worked with Dr. West to fit me in the schedule on an emergency basis, even though the pandemic has effected their business hours. Very practical safety measures to insure the safety of all the patients leaving me very comfortable about the concerns for social distancing guidelines. The staff wore masks and hand sanitizer was readily available. My family and I have been patient for years due to the quality of care and the long term staff that always is accommodating, pleasant, and helpful. It is apparent that they are a cohesive team that work well together and care for each other and their patients!

Dr. West and his team consider your dental health to be their top priority. The atmosphere is excellent and their competence puts you at ease right away. The office environment is comfortable, relaxing and the whole team is helpful and kind. Dr. West has been fantastic in helping me get my smile back after going through some tough dental issues. I am thankful for the help he has given me, and I look forward to working with him again should the need arise in the future.

Everything associated with this event was truly a delight. I realize that may sound strange for such a traumatic event but the staff for A to Z made me comfortable and reassured. While I was largely comotose through the procedure, I felt that Dr. West and his staff, notably Stephanie, the assistant who inserted the IV and talked me through my worries in pre-op, were all stellar and very caring. Still waiting for the final results of this procedure (otherwise a 10 would be in order), but am pretty competent that the folks that worked on my peridontal issues are very competent
